Last Big Push For Amy’s Care Trishaw Campaign

Last Big Push for Amy’s Care Trishaw Campaign

One last big push is needed to get Amy’s Care’s trishaw fund up to the top of the fundraising hill.

Trishaws have been described as a “couch with wheels” and have been developed with the express aim of making cycling, the outdoors and “feeling the wind in your hair” a possibility for older adults with limited mobility. This type of activity has been proven to benefit the community and individuals in many ways. The trishaws will be available for use by other groups when Amy’s Care is not using them and we will be training up volunteer ‘pilots’.

The trishaws are designed for multi-speed use which would be walking pace in public spaces like the parks and  would give way to pedestrians. We currently have the permission from Keswick Parks Trust to trial their use in Fitz Park.

This is a tremendously exciting project that supports the Lake District National Park’s vision for sustainable transport and accessibility.

We have secured funding support for this project  from Cumbria Community Foundation, Alpkit Foundation, Keswick Rugby Club and Baines Wilson and we are around three quarters of the way to achieving our target of £15,000 for 2 trishaws and associated running costs.

If you are inspired by this exciting campaign and would like to donate, please follow the links on the right of the page. If you are, or know of, a business who would like to sponsor a trishaw, or you would like to be a trishaw pilot with us, please get in touch here
